So, there's this kid that goes to my church named Jonathan Pilgrim. That's him in the picture up there from our church directory of about 5
years ago, before he got his teeth fixed up. Jonathan's a year younger than my daughter, and I know him fairly well from times when I was a
Junior High Youth Fellowship sponsor. I could probably even think of some embarassing stories about him from the times we all went on weekend
retreats...
Anyway, Jonathan has taken voice lessons, and over the years since that picture was taken, he's grown to be not only very tall, but a darn good
singer, too. He's been in the church choir, and has done solos, duets, and acted as cantor on several occasions. Both of his parents are talented
singers as well.
This summer, I heard that his parents had taken him to San
Antonio for the American Idol tryouts. Wow, that's pretty neat. A month or so
ago, they announced that he'd been chosen as one of the finalists to go to Hollywood to compete. Cool! Now I guess I'll have to watch that silly
show since there's going to be somebody on it that I know. Maybe he'll get lucky and not get booted off the island on the first episode. Oh wait,
that's ANOTHER silly show.
I stuck "American Idol"
+"Jonathan Pilgrim" into Google and came up with 15 hits today. I'll bet that number will increase quite a bit in the future as Season Six premiers on January 16 and 17.
In spite of being smart and talented, Jonathan has a MySpace page.
